International partnership notice of opportunities for UK colleges
The British Council is looking for quality UK colleges that would like to form sustainable partnerships with training institutions in Central and Southern Asia (CSA), as an essential component of its Vocational Educational and Training (VET) project, Skills for Employability.
The project aims to establish industry-driven curriculum pilots in key sectors of the economy that equip young people with the technical and generic skills that employers require. These will act as models of good practice, may contribute towards more widespread reform in the participating countries, and provide a platform for sustainable international relationships.
The Partnerships will provide participating institutions with funded opportunities for staff development and exchange, new learning opportunities for students, active involvement in VET reform agendas and development of strong relationships in emerging markets. Grant funding of up to £23,000 per year is available for a maximum of 2 years, to commence 1st April 2009.
Partnerships currently available as follows:
Pakistan: Engineering
Bangladesh: Construction
Nepal/Afghanistan: To be confirmed
Next steps:
UK colleges will be formally invited to apply to partner these nominated institutions on the 3 Sept08 and will be selected following competitive application and assessment, October 2008. Detailed guidelines and the application forms & further information available here or contact E: sarah.vaughan@britishcouncil.org expressing your interest before 27 Aug08.
